February General Ledger

50th Anniversary

The year was 1973, The Philadelphia Eagles season was the franchise's 41st in the National Football League. Although they improved upon their 2–11–1 record of the previous season, they failed to complete a winning record for the seventh consecutive season and failed to reach the playoffs for the thirteenth straight year. The Kansas City Chiefs season was the franchise's 4th season in the National Football League, the 11th as the Kansas City Chiefs, and the 14th overall. They finished with a 7–5–2 record and missed the playoffs for the second straight year. And now, fifty years later, on February 12, 2023, they will play each other in Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Any predictions on the outcome?

Another historical event from 1973 took place in Lansdale, PA. Dick Baum and Jerry Lawrence merged their accounting practices together and formed the firm of Lawrence & Baum. From a 4-person operation to one today that employs 29 full and part-time employees, Baum, Smith & Clemens, LLP has transformed into a leading CPA practice in the area. We will be celebrating our Golden Anniversary throughout the year in various ways. Stay tuned for more details on what we are planning.
